The Coast Wide Dr. Martin Luther King Jr Celebration Committee has been in existence since 1985 and has the responsibility of creating coast-wide opportunities for maximum  participation in the National Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday Celebration.  Steering committee participation is open to citizens from the three coastal counties representing various organizations and representing interested individuals who desire a robust weekend of activities and service opportunities. The event work groups are further supplemented with additional volunteers for sound implementation.

 

The Mission:

To engage citizens across the Mississippi Gulf Coast in celebratory events that are inspirational, educational and thought provoking honoring the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. We believe it's important to spur active service engagement for all ages that allow families, neighbors, co-workers, educational institutions, civic organizations, disabled and military personnel to work together in meaningful service projects.
